Bitter nastoika
Quince in the Mediterranean in ancient times was considered a symbol of love and fertility and was dedicated to the goddess Venus. It is believed that it was that “apple” that Paris presented to Aphrodite. And those “golden apples” growing in the fabulous garden of the Hesperides were also quinces. In ancient Greece, quince was in such favor and well regarded that newlyweds would certainly eat it on their wedding day so that their life would be as good as these beautiful and fragrant fruits.
