All bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon. The differences between American bourbon and Scotch begin with spelling:
- Scotch is spelled “whisky”, while bourbon is “whiskey”.
- Bourbon is made from corn - the grain mixture is a minimum of 51% corn, the other component may be oats or rye.
- Bourbon must be made in the USA, and not necessarily in Kentucky, but in any part of the country.
Bourbon “Montana Old” has a distinctive caramel flavor and honey aroma. Because of aging in oak barrels, there are noble oak tones in the aftertaste.
“Montana Old” is perfect for making cocktails or when taken straight with ice (“on the rocks”).
